I wanted to share some pictures I took of our notes from tonight's design session. Bill and I meet once per week (schedule permitting) to discuss the next steps for the FrontierSpace game. We then assign tasks and have until the next meeting to complete.

We always intended to make a Basic version of the game that is kid-friendly. Today we were kicking around the idea at lunch. In about 5 minutes we came up with a solution; remove this chapter, that chapter, reduce the gear to this, break down the 27 archetypes into 10 or so and write a new chapter on developing your character. Needful done!
I'm not sure if the game is really that easy to piece together (or apart,heh) or if it's the familiarity of the game. I was very impressed. Once again I tend to over think things but in a matter of minutes we had a framework to build on.

After attending AnotherGamingConvention Bill and I picked up some great ideas for the FrontierSpace RPG.
We play tested an encounter using the new core rules on a hex/square mat. We then played out the encounter without the mat. What we found is that game experience was different, there wasn't a "better" or "worse" way. Additionally with the new rules we didn't need to refer to the Player's handbook! This makes for fast play. »Read more
