NEW RULES
Mighty Grip: If they’re a part of your Kung Fu style, you can wield two-handed melee weapons with only one hand instead of two. However, they are much less effective in one hand than two: you must use your unarmed damage with them.
QI CULTIVATION & FIRE DEVIATIONS (OPTIONAL)
Characters have the option of Qi Cultivation. This first requires the expenditure of 5 Cultivation Points. Afterward, the character makes a Mystic skill check with a Hard (–20) penalty for each time they’ve performed Qi Cultivation (including the current time). If the Mystic skill check is successful, the character achieves a breakthrough and gains +1 qi permanently with no issues. If the skill check fails, the character earns the new qi point but suffers a Fire Deviation: a mental and a physical affliction, decided at random or by the GM.
Characters can gain bonuses to the Qi Cultivation check by taking certain pills, meditating in places of power, and other genre-appropriate actions adjudicated by the GM. Just as well, certain alchemical pills or magical herbs may alternatively give other bonuses (increased melee damage, for instance) in exchange for a chance of causing a Fire Deviation.
Lastly, each Hard (-20) penalty can be bought off by spending 5 additional CP per penalty in the initial expenditure.
At the GM’s option, Qi Cultivation may be the only way to acquire more qi than you begin with.
Lemme know what y'all think!
I like the simplicity of this Qi cultivation. I've been working on a Cultivator skill for AoW but it is far from play testing yet. I hope when it is done you can add it seamlessly to your AoW game. It has deviations too, fire being just one.
