Last night the players starship was taking a beating, and someone with Technician skills wanted to do some repairs. This was in combat, and the ship didn't have an Engineering Center. Damage was to the hull and some to the "cargo subsystem".
I ruled there really wasn't any repair possible: the technician stuff refers to fixing BP but not HP, and it seems though you can specialize in starship technician, that you are limited to repairing subsystems damaged by ion weapons, doing things like boosting performance for a turn, or miscellaneous checks one would do in the course of engineering in a space adventure (realigning the nano polarity tachyon output, or making the doors stop talking when they open or close).
Unless there's an engineering center, which I guess can fabricate the hull plating or whatever is required.
Is that right, or am I supposed to make a ruling in the moment?
I might let him "repair" or do a work around to get back some hull points after the battle. Takes some bulk head doors and welds them to hull temporarily, or something like that.
