Rocket Racers
A print-and-play board game by Bill and Bella Logan.
I made this game with my daughter, who was five years old at the time. It's a game about piloting your rocket ship in a race to collect the most gems by the time someone gets to the finish line. It centers around the idea of teaching decision-making within the context of a fun environment. She really enjoys playing, and even plays with her friends when they come over, even without me.
Print this out double-sided on some poster board or other heavy stock. Cut out the board (the game's directions will be on the back of it) and cut out the cards. You'll have to supply your own tokens to use as rocket ships, and will need 2 six-sided dice and some beads to use as the "gems." Those of you accustomed to print-and-play games probably already have a supply of components you can use to do this.
I hope some of you with young kids print this out and give it a play... I'd love to hear your feedback, especially regarding your child's experience. If I get some positive feedback I may consider doing some other print-and-play designs.
