Is this being worked on? Is there a revised version in the works? How about the complete hardcover that was talked about?
BareBones Fantasy RPG is not associated with Skaldcrow Games' Bare Bones Multiverse, despite similar names. Check out Glenn's products by clicking here.
Yes a revised version is in works. Bill is working on it. ON the hardcover I am not as sure, I will check on that.

Ok, I've been rereading the post at: http://dwdstudios.com/node/9099 often and trying to come up with some ideas to help.
How about this change to Offensive Strike - Damage is 2D for level 1 spellcaster, 4D for level 3 and 6D for level 5 and up.
This takes 1D off the top end of things but still gives decent output for beginning characters.
I looked and looked and didn't see this exact solution proposed before. Please forgive me if I missed it.

Food for thought. We could allow a LOG bonus like we do for STR/DEX and use your suggestion;
Level 1 - 2D
Level 3 - 4D
Level 5 - 6D
For each 5 points of LOG above 55 gain +1 to spellcaster damage.
Maybe even allow this; Gain +1D if you loose 10 STR permanently. ;)
I think the +1 to spellcaster damage will inflate the results again. Maybe?
For over extension how about Gain +1D for each 20 BP you loose immediately?
Or if folks are really concerned with the damage.
How about
Level 1 - 2D
Level 3 - 4D
Level 4+ - 4D +1 per spellcaster level
What if you lost 5BP immediately per 1D, accept it wasn't a permanent 1D (like other skills, loosing 10 for something permanent). So, for example; your in a tight spot and only you can defeat the dragon, perhaps you choose to loose 20BP to gain 4D extra damage saving your party!
lol, are we overthinking this?
If we do BBF 2.0, and I think we will, I think it will have a section for options like these. :)
I was thinking immediate loss, not permanent.
