Hello all.
Have not posted anything other than replies to folks for a while, so thought I would just stream a little consciousness.
DwD Thoughts
--In case you did not notice, there is now a button for submissions on the main masthead on the home page. Send us something.
--It is really impressive how much stuff Bill gets done. He has a huge amount of energy to put into all the different projects we have going on. Let me give you a little rundown on the division of labor here at DwD.
Bill is doing layout on all our modules, at least until I learn the ropes on how to do it myself for BB. He is doing the editorial duties for the modules I write and for half of the CO modules. He is setting up the playtesting for the modules and our rpg and board games as they come ready. He does some of the artwork. He corresponds with contacts in other countries about distributing our products. And he does all this while still writing some modules himself, working on whatever current project has him most fired up, and keeping to the deadlines I am assigning him on BB and CO projects and supplements. Busy, busy man.
TC is writing modules for OC and is taking over some of the editorial duties for OC modules not written by himself. TC for those unaware, is my eldest son. Tristam Charles Mizak. He is a recent graduate of the University of Rochester in international affairs. While he is sending out resumes, interviewing, and writing articles for a electronic game site he is assisting Bill and I at DwD.
I get to sit around and watch. Seriously, I am doing the editorial work on all BB submission other than my own. I am being the social media watchdog, to keep spam from the site, and make sure we are being responsive to our community. I am learning how to do the layout so I can take over some of those duties from Bill and free him up a little more on the creative end. And I am writing modules for BB myself. This was something I was doing even before my "official hiring" at DwD. And I act as a huge springboard for Bill when he comes up with ideas. He likewise listens to my ideas on the games I am working on developing.
Random Thoughts
--I am enjoying the interaction with the DwD community and the larger RPG community far more than I thought I would
--Developing a game is a far slower process for me than I would have anticipated before I started doing it. Trying to make something interesting, enjoyable, and marketable is a huge challenge. One of the reasons Bill and I don't leak out the different things we are working on too often is that some times they dead-end and we don't want to get people excited about something that does not come to fruition.
--Really looking forward to Gen Con though it means being away from my beautiful Amazon bride for five days. Bill and I had a blast last year and I expect this year to be even better. Am looking forward to meeting some of you folks as well.
--This would all be much easier if Bill and I still lived in the same town instead of on opposite sides of the state.
--I will get a picture of my RPG group soon to put on the site. Have had no luck so far. 13 people, 10 male 3 female stuffed into one room to play, hard to even find a spot to take a picture from.
Ok, that's it for tonight.

Have fun at GenCon and travel safely!
