I'm having trouble understanding the example on page 7.
This is for the example character whose DEX is 70.
The short bow damage is 2D+6 which includes his bonus damage of +4 from his high DEX (each 5 points above 55 adds 1; remember to round up in favor of the character).
70 - 55 is 15. 15/5 = 3 I can't come up with 4. Is this errata? I looked but didn't see it listed.
And if the answer is really +3, then would a Dex of 71 give him a +4 for rounding up?
BareBones Fantasy RPG is not associated with Skaldcrow Games' Bare Bones Multiverse, despite similar names. Check out Glenn's products by clicking here.
I noticed that too. It's got to be errata.
The example of pg 7 is incorrect. +1 damage for each 5 points. :-(
So is this one area in the rules where rounding up doesn't take place, Larry? I.e., a 73 STR gets you just +3 to damage (+1 for 56-60, +1 for 61-65, and +1 for 66-70, with nothing for 71-73)? You need the full five points to get the +1 bonus? Or do we still round up, making a 73 STR worth a +4 damage bonus?
It would probably help if the STR score in the example was 71 instead of 70. Or any other number over 55 that didn't end in a 5 or 0.
The rule isn't "round up in favor of the character". The rule is "round in favor of the character". This means no matter whether rounding up or down, round the number up OR down in whatever way favors the character.
We're fixing it.... grr... thought we had all the updates lol
page 7 should read:
Which also means the sample character on page 25 needs its short bow damage corrected.
I was looking at that last night while creating a character with the wife. I think what I like most about this product is that it feels like an ongoing process. I know we're just talking about errata but its nice to see something being done about it and it being addressed and acknowledged by the authors. I know the process is tedious but I want to express my gratitude for your continued efforts, both DwD Studios and the fans who keep taking the time to point out their findings. I love this game! Fantastic, triple A community.
It's easy to do when you have no stores of printed product.
Mulsiphix, thanks for the comment.1/4 is upset editing missed these, 1/4 is embarrassed but half is enjoying the process. :)
It's a blast working towards the same goal.
At least the players aren't up in your grill about errors in the book and are actually helping you guys fix them or errata them so they make sense for all. Talk about willing (and unpaid) volunteers!
+1
This is why I'm sticking with BBF!
