Lanterns and Torches

Based on some oil lamps I have at home (which last 3 hours on a cup and 1/2 oil). I use this
Lantern - lasts 6 hours, 5 spaces
Torch - 2 hours 5 spaces (this is just arbitrary to allow the standard set of 12 torches to last for a few forrays into the deep places of the earth).
What do you use?

Do you mean after the time is up, the lantern or torch extinguishes within 5 spaces of movement?
I took it as the torch lights up to five spaces in any given direction, starting from the space the user is standing in.
