I was over in the downloads section and came across these Minor NPC Cards. Would they work "as is" for BBF? I like them a lot.
BareBones Fantasy RPG is not associated with Skaldcrow Games' Bare Bones Multiverse, despite similar names. Check out Glenn's products by clicking here.
Nevermind, I guess these won't work as is. Are there any plans for creature and/or minor npc cards? A sheet like this would be helpful. How are the rest of you keeping track of these things? Are you using note cards or just jotting them down on a piece of paper? I'm curious since I am getting ready to run Maidens of Moordoth.
I've just been jotting all the monsters on scratch paper. My last gaming session I had handfuls of minions, critters and a boss all kept to a single sheet. It was kinda all over the place, but hey it worked :)
I made those for Star Frontiers, not sure if anyone used them. :-/
I personally use business cards in my home/online games.
If we made attractive BBF print & play cards (spells, conditions, creatures) and offer them on RPGNow for $1 would you be interested? Then when they offer DriveThruCards will migrate them to print-on-demand versions with attractive graphical content. We can have Player Packs and GM Packs.
GM can have fun slapping conditions cards in front of players. "Here Joe, take a dazed and prone card." :-)
Using condition cards was a big plus in my group's Fourth Edition campaign. They would be great for BBF.
I guarantee you that if you release additional BBF P&P cards that I will snatch those up without hesitation (food for thought).
I suggest releasing them all as one box. (Initiative cards, spell cards, encounter cards and condition cards.)
+1 Ascent
Sure! I love game accessories like that.
While copying one of my characters to a new sheet I thought it might be neat to have equipment cards. For instance the "riding horse" card would have the stats of a horse-sized plant eater. The cards could follow the #bbfrpg theme using silhouettes for images.
What if there were "custom spell cards" with blank boxes, you would fill in the data for your character. For instance, say you're a level 2 spellcaster with repel. The card might look something like this;
Repel, 1/encounter
Drive back 1D+ [ ] enemies whose rank is [ ] or less forcing them to flee [ ] spaces.
Filled in
Repel, 1/encounter
Drive back 1D+ [ 2 ] enemies whose rank is [ 2 ] or less forcing them to flee [ 10 ] spaces.
I think most folks can do the math if we just put the word "level" in there rather than having people write on the cards. Maybe writing on the cards works well for print and play, where people are printing the cards on paper. But I personally prefer a more durable permanent card with the word "level" there.
I can't imagine a successful fun experience playing with someone who can't do the math when it says "Drive back 1D+ [level] enemies whose ranks are less than or equal to [level], forcing them to flee a distance of 5 x [level] spaces"
I agree with Bill.
for anybody based in the UK, have a look at http://uk.moo.com/partner/50-free-business-card-trial/?gclid=CJyGhJn8x7M... . You can design 50 different cards and have them produced and sent to you for just the postage cost.
Also full colour and double sided so picture on one side, stats on the other.
