According to the rules (p15) the Hinder spell does the following:
"Target receives -10 penalty per spellcaster level to one ability chosen by spellcaster at the time the spell is cast: STR, DEX, LOG or WIL. This penalty affects all things derived from the hindered ability (such as body points, initiative, chance to hit, damage, etc.)"
What happens if an ability is reduced to 0 or below (e.g. LOG)? Will a STR 0 or below person/creature automatically die? I understand that Hindering an ability which starts at 0 (e.g. a golem's LOG) will have no effect on that creature.
Any thoughts?

Yes, a character whose STR is reduced to 0 has no power to live and is therefore dead. Your BP score is derived from your STR. If your STR is 0, then your BP is 0. Thus, according to page 27, "When creatures reach 0 they are dead. When characters reach 0 they are unconscious for the rest of the battle. After the encounter you must make a STR check. If you succeed, your character wakes up with 1 body point and a nasty headache. If you fail, your character is dead." That caveat is not going to help you if your BP can't be raised above 0 on account of having 0 STR.
Your STR check against fatality would be at your normal value. Hinder lasts "Until Encounter Ends". You roll the STR check to live "After the Encounter".
I should have looked it up. I was addressing specifically the 0 STR effect, not focusing on the spell itself.
No worries. We're all here to help and try to clear things up. :)
Hey, great discussion. You schooled me some. Now I know better how to handle this in my games.
