Welcome to Living Keranak, a series of free adventures by DwD Studios and Occult Moon designed to be run at your local gaming store.
LIVING KERANAK
Living Keranak is different from adventures you create or purchase. GMs download free adventures, bring pencils, character sheets and logs to their local game store (or home) and and run BBF with 1 or more players. Players create characters or use pre-generated PCs that they will use in Living Keranak adventures. The Living part comes from you, the GM's and Players that have some control over the story arc. The stories we will all tell becomes a living setting that grows as long as play continues.

BareBones Fantasy RPG is not associated with Skaldcrow Games' Bare Bones Multiverse, despite similar names. Check out Glenn's products by clicking here.
Love the sound of this!
This looks great! One question: What's in it for local stores? I was unaware they could even sell DWD Studios' products.
We are still working out the details. For now GM's run the game, if players or patrons want product they would visit RPGnow.
Do you have any thoughts or ideas?
As a former retailer, I'm dubious that a smart FLGS owner would allow people to run and play games in their space that they have no chance of selling.
Is there a way DWD could set up at least some kind of direct program to get books into retailers' hands?
Yes, FLGS's need product if they are going to host games. Product that they can make a profit from and will not be undercut too far with online prices.
However, there is an alternative to retail prices and that is letting FLGS's sell things with your logo on it without worrying about cease and desist letters. Maybe even providing them with a digital copy of your logo large enough to print on t-shirts with encouragement to use it freely, but responsibly, reminding them that they are solely responsible for any legal issues arising from their use of it.
That could be one incentive to selling your product for cheap. Also encouraging them to make their own in-house publications with the license.
There could be other ways to provide incentives as well.
Without the proper incentives, FLGS's would not want to sell your books as cheaply as you do, unless at least 1/3rd of that price is going to them.
Another option is simply to take the financial hit for the sake of Living Keranak being played at the FLGS.
That is a good point and we've given it some consideration. We are hopeful that GMs will work with their store owners to get product on their shelves. Definitely more to think about.
My local store encourages gaming no matter if they sell it or not. They feel you'll buy something as long as your in the store I guess.
Another possibility would be to hold "keystone" events at conventions. Especially at medium to large cons, it would give BBF very solid exposure. You could even arrange for your reps at these cons to have physical merchandise on hand for sale.
Great idea!
As the owner of two FLGS I agree with Larry, I encourage any gaming because it builds loyal customers who do purchase products from you. The best part is that they 'spread the word' that your FLGS is 'cool' and this is the best form of advertising. Anything to get people in the door! Even if it's not a product you sell, they'll still buy soda and snacks while playing (fingers crossed) and maybe something will catch there eye.
